In the churchyard today.

It's not too late to make a gift of money to the church for our Patronal festival. You don't need to use one of the special envelopes either. Any envelope will do. Place your gift in the collection plate any week during November or pass to a Churchwarden. Contact the PCC Treasurer if you would rather make a bank transfer.
Our church is financed by it's congregation and the people of our parish. We do not receive grants from the government or any other body. Thank you It has become a day for recognising the Cross (in a festal atmosphere that would be inappropriate on Good Friday) as a symbol of triumph, as a sign of Christ's victory over death, and a reminder of His promise, "And when I am lifted up, I will draw all men unto me." (John 12:32)
More... Some members of the congregation spent the day in quiet contemplation at the Holy Cross Convent at Costock.

Hats & Bags Stall Please donate new/nearly new bags and hats: handbags, shoulder bags, evening bags, clutch, wristlet, hobo, shoppers, man bags, beach bags; sun hats, fascinators, flat caps, caps & occasion hats. Child or adult sizes. Leave donations in church please. Many thanks J Palin The deanery Ascension Day service was attended by 110 people and a guide dog. The sermon by Bishop Richard Inwood was enriching and was delivered with a touch of humour. He told us he had come to this diocese to 'act like a bishop'. We were accompanied by a musical group who played and sang some lovely songs. The organ was also played for the hymns. The refreshments afterwards finished off a wonderful evening of Christian fellowship.
Thanks to the Bishop and all at St. Swithuns. Shout to the north and the south Sing to the east and the west Jesus is Saviour to all Lord of heaven and earth (the chorus from one of the songs) To celebrate the risen Jesus' ascension to heaven you are invited to a service at St. Swithun's Church, Woodborough. Service starts at 7.30pm.
Have you got any donations for the Coffee Morning on Monday 26th May?
If you've not already done so please return your envelope(s) to church tomorrow.
Thank you. Do you want to come and join with the choir this evening? Come along and join in the practise of a new Sanctus for communion services. All singers welcome - 7pm in church.
