MONTHLY NEWS AND UPDATE ON EVENTS
October 2021
We are beginning to plan for future events which includes:
Christmas Fair on Saturday 27th November in Church with seasonal cakes, preserves, refreshments, raffle, tombola and bottle stall. There will also be Christmas craft making activities for all the family to enjoy.
Sunday 4th December - Gift Sunday. Bring a new toy for a child to enjoy or vouchers for older children. These gifts will be taken to the Great Notts Toy Appeal reception centre and be distributed to families in and around Nottingham & Nottinghamshire.

Wednesday Open days resume
Everyone Welcome 10.15am to 4.00pm
Following a later start Morning Prayer at 9.30am Church will be open to visitors for refreshments, socialising and craft preparation activities.
New Service Patterns starting in September
3rd Saturday of the month Messy Church (3- 5pm) all families welcome for fun filled activities a short service and refreshments
4th Saturday of the month Live at Five (5pm) Mic playing his guitar and inviting everyone to sing along
4th Sunday of the month Messy Sunday (9.30am) similar to Messy Church but in Gedling Memorial Hall for creative and crafty fun then up to church for the end of the church service followed by refreshments
5th Saturday of the month 'Scones of Praise' (5pm) Look out for further details on the website
September 2021
Revd Jean Lamb cycled from Sneinton to Strelly and returned via Bilborough, Basford, Carrington, Carton and Gedling before returning back to Sneinton. She stopped at 12 churches along the way and raised £145 in sponsorship money.
Eleanor Wilson walked around Southwell with a group of walkers and visited 5 churches plus Southwell Minster. One of the group who is a volunteer for the Schools' Pilgrim Events, gave a tour of the Minster pointing out various interesting facts, including where to find the carved mice.
Having travelled to Southwell by bus, the group then returned to Gedling, while Eleanor stopped off at Bulcote and walked back to Gedling via Burton Joyce, Stoke, Netherfield and Carlton visiting a further 8 churches.
A total of £235 was sent to Historic Churches Trust with 50% being returned for the ongoing maintenance work at All Hallows.

We opened our new Tea Bar with an invitation to all people in the community and those who have helped raise funds and grants to join together to bless the Tea Bar on August Bank Holiday Monday 30th August.
We had a wonderful turnout and visitors enjoyed coffee/tea, cake a display of photos showing the progress of the Tea Bar and Toilet project, but most of all we enjoyed the fellowship of coming together to socialise in a ay that we haven't been able to do for the last 18th months.
Donations were put towards our latest project which is to replace the old boilers before the cold weather starts in ernest!

Boiler Project
We had some serious issues with the Boilers when they were last serviced and it cost a lot of money to get replacement parts for such an old system.
We are currently gathering quotes for new Boilers which is expected to cost in the region of £20,000. Although we have earmarked £10,000 for this project we will have to raise a further £10,000 before the boilers fail again.
To start the fund raising, there will be a Garden Sale on Bank Holiday Monday 31st May between 10am and 2pm. See poster giving further details on the Events Page

April 2021
Church opened for the first time since Christmas on 4th April Easter Day. We are now open every Sunday at 9.30am and on Wednesday morning 9am for a service only. When restrictions are lifted we will be open all day Wednesday for meeting socially over a cup of tea or coffee. We can't wait to start using our brand new tea bar which has been in place since November and has not yet been used.

The tea bar is made of solid oak with black granite worktop and integral dishwasher, fridge and plenty of storage space. We have also tidied up the area with new shelves for the hymnbooks and a cupboard to store the stacking chairs. All we need now is customers!!!

Hymnathon
To recognise the anniversary of the closure of church at the outbreak of the Covid Pandemic on 21st March (the day before Mothering Sunday 2020), Steve Hicking, All Hallows Organist, played 56 hymns representing the Sundays that had passed by. Thank you to the solo singers who assisted Steve during the 3 hours and 30 minutes of playing. Thank you also for the generous donations which raised £1630 for church funds.

Christingle: We were very pleased to be able to send a total of £84 to the Children's Society following the online Christingle service. A total of £142 was also raised online through the All Hallows link to the Children's Society.
100 bags of materials for creating a Christingle were collected by Members of AH Junior Church and also sent to All Hallows School.

The Great Notts Toy Appeal was held during the first week of advent.
A collection point for the toys was held in All Hallows for two days and then gathered up and taken to the distribution hub at St John's Bilborough.
