My Spiritual Journey - a real life account
In December 2012, the first Christmas card I received was from All Hallows Church. This was not a flyer – it was produced on quality card with Christmas greetings to my family. It also detailed dates and times of services. I recall feeling quite touched to receive such a lovely card from my local Church. This card made me aware of the Church and their events for the first time.
I was walking by the Church in the new year (2013) and noticed a sign reading ‘Open Day’ my curiosity got the better of me and I strolled up the path and after a little hesitation I lifted the latch to the Church and stepped in. My initial feelings were of warmth and friendliness. I was greeted with a smile, but left to explore in my own time. I sat for quite some time, in awe of my surroundings. Eventually, while looking at details of the Church history the Church Warden introduced himself and offered refreshments, realising the time I kindly declined thanking him for making me welcome.
Two weeks later I decided to attend a Sunday Service and listened to a very uplifting sermon from the Rector - my journey began. After a few months, I became more involved in Church activities, and then made the decision to be Baptised which was a very moving experience. After a period of instruction and reflection I was also Confirmed. I started to attend Group Bible Study, Contemplative Prayer and Quiet Days, which gave me a hunger to learn more about: Faith, Spirituality Prayer and the history of the Bible.
I am now participating in a ‘Journey in Faith’ course run by the Southwell Diocese which I thoroughly enjoy. Our group meet for two hours every week at a Church in the Diocese. We have three facilitators to guide us through the course modules. It covers exploring the teaching and practices of the Christian Faith. Enabling personal growth and development.
This course so far, has challenged and enriched me and would recommend it to anyone eager to develop as a disciple and/or stepping stone for anyone considering accredited ministry.

Re-Jesus
An entertaining and informative website answering questions about Jesus e.g. What did Jesus actually say? Can art tell me anything about Jesus? The website has 12 modules on Spirituality to help you discover more about prayer and the inner life. Contemplative Prayer
You are welcome to try this form of silent prayer. A group meet on the fourth Monday of the month at 7.30pm in church (except December). What is contemplative prayer? Need a Bible?
Thanks to a generous donor we now have a set of Bibles in church to borrow located near the pigeon holes. |
Pilgrim is a major new teaching and discipleship resource from the Church of England. It aims to help every local church create a place where people can explore the Christian faith together and see how it can be lived out each day.
Pilgrim is comprised of two stages: the Follow stage for those very new to faith, and the Grow stage for those who want to go further. Each stage contains four short six-session courses which focus on a major theme of Christian life.
